Many times students, parents and community members will ask, "what is CEO." Over the past six weeks, Wayne County CEO Facilitator, Sarah Rush, has been serving as a volunteer for Junior Achievement in the 8th grade second block Social Studies Class at Center Street. Many of the same principles. topics and applications taught in the Junior Achievement program are similar to the CEO program for High School juniors and seniors. To give students a more in-depth look at a typical day in the CEO program, Sarah arranged for the 8th grade students to visit Gordy's Machine & Tool, Inc. here in Fairfield to experience a business tour. Students got a chance to see what Gordy and the crew do in that building he lets FCHS Seniors paint on! Students learned first hand about the tool and die industry and the skills needed to work as a machinist. Most of the individuals working for Gordy have been with him over 20 years... which speaks volumes to the kind of organizational culture he has created. Students asked questions about the industry and the work they do. They even got to see the Colts Basketball Coach hard at work! Students were professional and courteous. I couldn't have been more proud! Thank you to Gordy and Big J for their time this morning. And thank you to Mrs. Ellis, the bus drivers and the Administration at Center Street School for allowing students this important opportunity.
